Is this course suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. No previous knowledge of Arabic is required or expected. You only need to be able to read Arabic words with vowel marks. Any writing skills you need will develop gradually through the guided practice in the course. If you can read the words of the Quran but do not yet understand them, this course was designed for you.

I have tried learning Arabic before and gave up. Why would this be different?

Most Arabic courses are built around an institute — full-time, or part-time under a teacher who hands you the notes, sets the tests, gives you the practice and watches over you as you work. Take that away and the course stops working.

Most courses are designed to teach Modern Standard Arabic or a spoken dialect. Neither of those is the Arabic of the Quran. So you can finish a course, open the Quran, and still not understand what you are reading. That is usually why it failed — not because you were not capable.

In my view the best route for an English-speaking Muslim is to learn only the essential rules you actually need, practise them heavily, and start understanding real sentences and phrases for yourself. That is what unlocks the Quran. This course is built to do exactly that.

What is the 3-2-6 method?

The 3-2-6 method maps the Arabic language into three clear learning milestones:

What will I be able to understand after completing Book One Course?

By the end of Book One you should be able to recognise and understand significant portions of almost every line of the Quran. You will learn to recognise common Quranic phrases, understand nominal sentences, and identify the basic structure of verbal sentences. More importantly, you will begin to see how the language fits together, instead of viewing each Arabic word in isolation. You will also gain a strong foundation for progressing to more advanced Quranic Arabic.

Will I understand the entire Quran after completing this course?

Not entirely. Understanding the Quran has many levels and is a lifelong journey. Alongside Arabic it involves studying Tafsir, Tajwid, the life of the Prophet (PBUH), and other Islamic sciences. This course focuses on unlocking the Arabic language of the Quran. It will help you recognise and understand significant portions of Quranic text, and give you the foundation needed for further study. Beginning to understand the language of Allah's Book is itself a major milestone in building a deeper, lifelong relationship with the Quran.

Is this a spoken Arabic or Tajwid course?

No. This course does not teach conversational Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, a spoken dialect, or Tajwid. Its focus is very clear: the Arabic you need in order to begin understanding the Quran. The foundation you build will, however, make it much easier to study Modern Standard Arabic, spoken Arabic and other areas of the language later.

Does this replace studying with a teacher?

No, and it is not meant to. It will take you considerably further than you can go alone, and it will make you a better student when you do sit with a teacher — because you will arrive already knowing the map, the terminology and how a Quranic sentence is put together.

How does the course work? Is the course live or pre-recorded?

The lessons are pre-recorded and divided into short, manageable sessions, so you can study whenever and wherever it suits you. This is not a passive video course. Each lesson combines clear teaching with notes, guided practice, written work, quizzes and assessments. You actively apply what you learn rather than simply watching and listening. Live classes are not included or required. If you need help, you can ask questions through the Academy and receive a direct response.

What does each lesson include?

Each lesson is divided into short, focused sessions. Depending on the topic these include:

The online quizzes select questions at random from a larger question bank, and may also change the order of the answers. Every attempt requires you to think again rather than memorise a fixed sequence. Each lesson builds on what you have already learnt. Moving ahead before properly understanding the current lesson creates confusion rather than clarity. The weekly release keeps your study focused and maintains sound academic progression. It gives you time to watch the sessions, complete the practice, revise, and finish the assessments before moving on. This course is designed to help you learn properly, not to help you reach the final video quickly.

Can I download and print the lesson materials?

Yes. You can download and print the lesson notes and practice sheets. A printer is not required, though. You can read the materials on screen and complete the exercises in a notebook. What matters is that you write and practise rather than simply watch. For this reason, hands-on written practice is emphasised throughout the course.

What happens if I fall behind?

Nothing is lost, and there is no need to worry. Once a lesson has been released it remains available throughout your access period. If life becomes busy, simply return and continue from where you stopped. There is no class to catch up with and no pressure to keep pace with other students.

Can I complete several lessons in one week?

Yes, once lessons have been released. We strongly advise against rushing, though. Each lesson provides part of the foundation needed for later lessons and future levels. Moving ahead without completing the practice may create difficulties later. Progress in Arabic is not measured by how many videos you have watched. It is measured by what you can recognise, understand and apply.

Can I revise when I only have a few minutes?

Yes. Even with five or ten minutes you can log in and repeat an earlier quiz. Because the questions and answer choices are randomised, each attempt is a fresh opportunity to recall, think and strengthen your understanding. These short, regular periods of revision make a significant difference to how much you remember.

Can I ask questions when something is unclear?

Yes. You can ask through the course player, in the Academy community, or privately by email. Use whichever suits you. We will always try to respond clearly and thoroughly. If your question needs a fuller explanation, we may provide additional written notes so you understand the subject properly. You are studying independently, but you are not studying alone.
